2019 One HEALtH Student Challenge
The Canadian Health Adaptations, Innovations, & Mobilization (CHAIM) Centre and The Discovery Centre are hosting the third annual One HEALtH (Human-Environment-Animal Links to Health) Student Challenge at Carleton University. The Challenge is open to Carleton undergraduate students from all disciplines.
Students will work in teams to develop a strategy for designing a plan for the Ottawa inner city area to create the environment and social conditions that allow anyone, including marginalized or vulnerable populations, to be able to effectively care for, and derive the health benefits (psychologically, socially, emotionally, and physically) of companion pets. Students will consider the necessary support systems, social attitudes, communications, programs, and infrastructure that are needed to promote healthy human-pet interactions in a dense urban area. The One HEALtH Student Challenge launches on October 4th and runs until November 22nd 2019, when teams will communicate their strategies to a panel of judges at a public event.
